Borrowing a book

Loan period may change depends during university holidays. For details, check the library homepage.

If necessary, you can borrow journals and reference books for 1 day (until following library opens).

Borrowing procedure

When you borrow a book, you need your student ID card, staff ID card, or library card to the service counter.
Self-checkout machine in the library is available for borrowing. For journals, audio-visual materials, supplements CDs, DVDs, etc., please check them out at the service counter. If you have overdue books, you cannot borrow any books. Don’t lend a borrowed book to another.

Renewal

You can extend the loan period on MyOPAC, whether or not you are in the university.
You can also extend it at the service counter by going through the same procedure as borrowing a book.
The loan period can be extended only once. The deadline is 2 weeks from the date of extension.

Renewal is not allowed in the following cases:

  • The book is overdue.
  • The book is reserved by other users.
  • Journals, reference books, or materials borrowed during long-term loan period.

Return

Please return the books to the service counter (in either campus). Or put them into the book post (near the library entrance) when the library is closed.
However, materials (journals / reference books) should be returned to the service counter of the original library. Please put them back to the original location after the procedure.
Before you leave the university for a long time, return the books in advance.

Reservation and Delivery Service within TUAT

You can reserve books out on loan, and have books delivered from a library in another campus. The procedure is as follows:
You cannot order a book which is available in your home campus library. Please find and use a book on the bookshelf directly.

  1. Please confirm the status of the books via Online Catalog(TUAT).
  2. On the search result page, if [Status] is [Out on loan], click [Reserve]. If the same book is available in another campus, you can also click [Reserve] to have it delivered to the library you selected.
  3. Log in to MyOPAC to go through the reservation or ordering procedure.

We will notify you by e-mail when the book is available. You need to receive it within 1 week.

Reservation and ordering are inapplicable to journals, reference books, and materials in the laboratories.

Article copy delivery from a library in another campus

Copies of journal article available in a library in another campus can be ordered. (You can also visit in person and read it in that library.)
The procedure is the same as "Interlibrary Loan". (Fee: 20 yen/sheet for black and white, 100 yen/sheet for color.  Postage is free.)
